Rock Springs Main Street/URA Names White Mountain Lions Club January Volunteers of the Month
The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency is proud to recognize the White Mountain Lions Club as the January Volunteers of the Month in appreciation of their outstanding contribution to this year’s Christmas in the Park festivities.
Throughout the entire run of Christmas in the Park, members of the White Mountain Lions Club provided complimentary rides on their holiday train every Friday and Saturday evening, creating joyful memories for children and adults alike. The festive train quickly became one of the most beloved features of the event, adding movement, laughter, and an extra touch of magic to Bunning Park and enhancing the overall holiday experience for our community.
The White Mountain Lions Club has a long and meaningful history of service. Formed on February 14, 1978, in Rock Springs, the club is currently the only Lions Club in Sweetwater County. Although membership numbers have declined in recent years, their commitment to serving the community has never wavered. Their primary focus areas include assisting with sight-related needs and supporting the local food bank and soup kitchen.
Beyond Christmas in the Park, the club provides free train rides at community favorites such as Flaming Gorge Days and the Sweetwater County Fair, and they proudly participate in the Flaming Gorge Days Parade, Holiday Lighted Parade, and Red Desert Roundup Rodeo Parade. Their newest tradition — bringing their train to Christmas in the Park — was a tremendous success, made possible with support from the citizens of Sweetwater County, Mack & Co., and Rocky Mountain Power Sports & Auto.
“Volunteer groups like the White Mountain Lions Club are what make community events truly special,” said Chad Banks, URA/Main Street Manager. “Their generosity, time, and heart for service brought so much joy to families this holiday season, and we are incredibly grateful.”
The Rock Springs Main Street/URA extends its sincere thanks to the White Mountain Lions Club for their continued dedication to making Rock Springs a brighter place — not just during the holidays, but all year long. Community members interested in volunteering at Downtown events are encouraged to call 307-352-1434 to learn how to get involved.
