The Stellar Cellar named September Business of the Month

The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency is pleased to recognize The Stellar Cellar as the September 2026 Business of the Month, just as the locally owned business prepares to celebrate seven years in business this October.

Owned by Jessie Hodder Fife, The Stellar Cellar has become a distinctive part of Downtown Rock Springs, offering shoppers an ever-changing mix of secondhand and vintage clothing, records, handmade goods, gifts, oddities and other unique finds.

The Stellar Cellar opened in 2019 and has continued to evolve over the past seven years. What has remained constant is Fife’s passion for secondhand shopping, creativity and giving items another life. That philosophy has helped create a business that offers something beyond a traditional retail experience. Customers never quite know what they’ll discover when they walk through the door.

“The Stellar Cellar is a great example of the personality and creativity that locally owned businesses bring to Downtown,” said Chad Banks, Rock Springs Main Street/URA Manager. “Jessie has created a business that is unmistakably her own, and over the past seven years she has continued to evolve, collaborate and find new ways to bring people Downtown. We’re excited to recognize that investment in our Downtown and our community.”

That collaborative spirit will be on full display when The Stellar Cellar celebrates its seventh anniversary with The Crow Collective on Saturday, October 3, from 3–7 p.m. The street festival will take place along North Front Street, from The Stellar Cellar to the corner of J Street, celebrating “seven years of adornment, magic and nostalgia.”

The event will include a Crow Treasure Exchange, where participants can bring a secondhand trinket to exchange; local artisans and upcycled makers; divination; witchy photo minis; oddities and curiosities; carnival games; food trucks; flash tattoos and piercings from Nightshade Tattoos; and more. Live entertainment will include vocal performances from Perennial Music Studios, a live set from Reverend James, formerly of Hanover Fist, and an original performance of “Persephone’s Descent” featuring The Starling Company and Perennial Music Studios. Spooky, gothic and expressive attire is encouraged.

The anniversary celebration is also representative of the role independent businesses can play beyond their own storefronts. Events, collaborations and creative experiences like The Crow Collective give residents and visitors another reason to explore Downtown while introducing them to neighboring businesses and the broader district.

The Stellar Cellar has participated in numerous Downtown promotions and activities over the years and was selected in 2023 as a recipient of a Backing Small Businesses grant, a national program supporting locally owned businesses and their continued growth.

As The Stellar Cellar approaches its seventh anniversary, its success is another reminder of the importance of supporting locally owned businesses. Independent retailers contribute to the character of Downtown, create unique shopping experiences, keep dollars circulating locally and give residents and visitors reasons to explore their community.

The Rock Springs Main Street/URA encourages residents to congratulate Jessie Hodder Fife and The Stellar Cellar on being named September Business of the Month — and help celebrate seven years in October at The Crow Collective.

The Business of the Month program recognizes businesses that contribute to the vitality of Downtown Rock Springs and the community through investment, customer service, community involvement, and the unique products, services and experiences they provide.

Businesses are nominated by members of the community and then evaluated using a scoring rubric that considers a variety of factors, including community involvement, customer service, investment and improvements, business practices, and overall contribution to the Downtown district. Nominations are reviewed by the Rock Springs Main Street/URA Economic Vitality Team, which selects each month’s honoree based on those scores.

Community nominations are encouraged year-round. Anyone wishing to nominate a Downtown business for future recognition may contact the Rock Springs Main Street/URA office at 307-352-1434.
