Rock Springs Main Street/URA Recognizes Hampton & Newman, L.C. with July Golden Broom Award

The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA) is proud to recognize Hampton & Newman, L.C. as the recipient of the August 2026 Golden Broom Award, honoring the firm's outstanding commitment to preserving one of Downtown Rock Springs' most historic properties while maintaining an exceptional appearance year-round.

Located at 118 3rd Street, the Hampton & Newman offices occupy the former home of Archibald Blair, widely recognized as the first citizen of Rock Springs. Blair established the area's first coal mines, served in the Wyoming Territorial Legislature, and played an instrumental role in securing Wyoming's statehood. Constructed between 1897 and 1903, the home remains one of the community's most significant historic landmarks.

Hampton & Newman acquired the property in 2005 and thoughtfully restored and renovated the historic residence into their law offices. Their careful preservation of the building's historic character, combined with tasteful updates, has created a beautiful example of adaptive reuse while honoring the property's rich history.

Today, the property is impeccably maintained, with manicured landscaping and meticulous attention to detail that make it a standout along one of Rock Springs' busiest corridors. The building serves as both a welcoming professional office and a visible reminder of the importance of investing in and preserving the community's historic resources.

The Golden Broom Award recognizes Downtown businesses and property owners who take exceptional pride in maintaining the appearance of their buildings, storefronts, and surrounding properties. By celebrating these efforts, the program encourages continued investment in creating an attractive, welcoming Downtown for residents and visitors alike.

Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving Downtown businesses or properties for future Golden Broom Awards. Nominations can be submitted by calling the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency office.
