Shorty’s Barbershop Honored with October’s Golden Broom Award
The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency is proud to announce that Shorty’s Barbershop, located at 455 Broadway, is the recipient of October’s Golden Broom Award.
Just like his clients leave looking sharp after a fresh cut, Shorty (George Hoyt) keeps his corner of Downtown Rock Springs just as polished. Known for keeping his head down and letting his work speak for itself, Shorty can often be seen sweeping the sidewalk, washing his windows, and taking quiet pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming space. He’s not one to seek the spotlight, which makes this recognition all the more meaningful.
The Golden Broom Award recognizes Downtown businesses that go above and beyond in maintaining clean, inviting spaces for the community and visitors alike. Shorty’s Barbershop exemplifies that spirit—showing that pride in appearance, whether it’s a fresh haircut or a well-kept storefront, makes a lasting impression.
“We’re thrilled to recognize Shorty for his dedication to keeping Downtown looking great,” said Maria Mortensen, URA board chairwoman. “He takes the same pride in his shop that he does in every haircut—and it shows.”
The Rock Springs Main Street/URA extends congratulations to Shorty’s Barbershop and thanks George for his continued commitment to keeping Downtown looking its best.
