Facade improvements are physical upgrades that add aesthetic and economic value to the built American Legionenvironment by making repairs, replacements or additions to existing buildings. Repair and renovation of building facades is important to neighborhood business districts, as significant enhancements to the appearance of the neighborhood and businesses can draw more customers and increases sales in the district and protect the existing investments in commercial properties and the businesses that they house.  Merchants, property owners and the surrounding neighborhood all benefit  from these changes and investments.

Facade improvement programs have a tremendous impact on the Urban Renewal Area District by providing access to funding and technical assistance and facilitating a greater number of improvements in the downtown.

The following facade improvements were completed with the aid of Facade Improvement Program funds.  The Facade Improvement Program is administered and reviewed by the URA Design Committee and is available to building/business owners within the Urban Renewal Area District.  See Facade Improvement Program for more details.
